January 30 –
February 23, 2014

Thursdays-Saturdays at 8:00 pm
Sundays at 3:00 pm

Running Time: 2.5 hours including one Intermission.

UPDATE: 01.23.2014

Recent and ongoing weather conditions have necessitated rehearsal cancellations and are causing Keegan leadership concern for the safety and comfort of our Church Street building for both artists and audiences.  To ensure that we can provide a facility that is warm enough to safely host our production, we will be moving opening night of BEST MAN to Thursday, January 30th at 8:00 pm.

A sophisticated, elegant and damnably entertaining play!”
– The New Yorker

A play about power, ambition, political secrets, ruthlessness and the race for the presidency, Gore Vidal’s The Best Man is set at the national convention where two candidates are vying for their party’s nomination during the primary season. It’s an inside look at the dirt-digging, double-dealing, triple-crossing chicanery of presidential electioneering. Filled with Vidal’s trademark verbal fire, this darkly satirical drama resonates today as an exploration of how political and personal agendas can change the destiny of a nation. Featuring Artistic Director Mark A. Rhea and Keegan company member Colin Smith.

Vidal’s story is a corker! Suspenseful, funny, surprisingly fresh!”

I was looking forward to seeing the show on Sunday, January 26 and am VERY DISAPPOINTED that the performance has been cancelled. Hope no one is ill — an look forward to another opportunity.

      JoAnne,

We’re terribly disappointed, too — but ultimately, the comfort and safety of our audiences and actors would have been compromised had we opened as originally scheduled. Our Church Street building can be challenging to keep at comfortable temperatures under the best of winter circumstances; in weather this extreme, that challenge multiplies. Hopefully you’ll be able to make it out to see THE BEST MAN.

What is the run time for Best Man?
