October 27, 2016:  The Keegan Theater’s 20th anniversary season continues with the November 5 opening of John Guare’s SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION.

Directed by Brandon McCoy, SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION features Ryan Swain, Susan Marie Rhea, Ray Ficca, Kevin Adams, Karen Novack, Jon Townson, Timothy H. Lynch, Daniel Lyons, Ava Knox, Eli Pendry, Christian Montgomery, Jonathan Helwig, Josh Sticklin, Kathleen Mason, Matthew Sparacino, and Patrick Joy.

Inspired by the story of a real-life con artist, the play follows a young man who insinuates himself into the lives of a wealthy New York couple by claiming that he is the son of actor Sidney Poitier. No subject is left untouched in this comic, fast-paced and affecting piece. The title refers to a statistical theory that states that any two people in the world can be connected through only six other people. An examination of the threads of chance that link one person to another, SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION was an instant stunner, sending shockwaves through exhilarated audiences and critics alike:

“Among the many remarkable aspects of Mr. Guare’s writing is the seamlessness of his imagery, characters and themes, as if this play had erupted from his own imagination in one perfect piece.” —NY Times.

“SIX DEGREES is the best American play of the past several seasons, and will do hot business wherever it goes.” —Variety.

“…cunningly executed, seemingly seamlessly joined, interlarded with clever one-liners, alternating comic situations with mildly disturbing ones…SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION is a play about everything, with something in it for everyone…” —NY Magazine.

In addition to a successful Broadway run, the Pulitzer Prize-nominated play was adapted into a 1993 film starring Will Smith, Stockard Channing and Donald Sutherland. Winner of the 1993 Olivier Award for Best Play and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award.

SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION runs November 5- December 3, 2016 at the Andrew Keegan Theatre in Washington, DC. The press opening is Monday, November 7, 2016 at 8pm.
