About the Tour
The KeeganConnects WEST BY GOD tour of West Virginia will bring a socially important play to a region with a burgeoning arts scene, bolstering the local artistic community and engaging audience members in both DC and Appalachia in a critical dialogue about perception and humanity.
Following its DC premiere, WEST BY GOD will travel to West Virginia as the pilot project in the KeeganConnects tour. In January 2020, the play will be staged at Marshall University in Huntington over two weekends, with audience talkbacks and community engagement events offered in collaboration with other local theatres and non-profit organizations. Playwright Brandon McCoy and select cast members will conduct theatre workshops and community outreach events throughout the run. The tour cast will include a Marshall University student, who will also be awarded a residency fellowship at Keegan in fall 2019.
Performances January 17, 18, 19, 24 and 25 at Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center
Moderated audience talkback and community engagement events to follow select performances
The KeeganConnects tour of WEST BY GOD opens a new chapter in Keegan’s long history of touring important works outside the DC region. An annual project designed to take original, provocative plays to small towns and communities nationwide, the annual KeeganConnects tour will include affordable productions, theatre and audience engagement events that will forge connections between the District’s thriving theatre community and smaller professional and community theatres around the country.
