** KEEGAN’S BELOVED HOLIDAY TRADITION **
Returning for its ninth season! An original work by Keegan company member Matthew J. Keenan, AN IRISH CAROL is an homage to Dickens’ classic – told as only the Irish can. This comic and touching play, set in a modern Dublin pub, follows one evening in the life of David, a wealthy pub owner who has lost touch with his own humanity in the interest of self-protection and material success. But on this Christmas Eve – challenged by a voice from the past, provoked by those in the present, and faced with the reality of a lonely future – David’s life may change forever.
DC Theatre Scene Review
“An Irish Carol succeeds as a light-hearted, potty-mouthed, tongue-in-cheek romp through a tale that has become synonymous with not only Christmas, but the possibility of redemption and hope for a better future.”
Broadway World Review
“Keegan Theatre’s production of An Irish Carol by Matthew J. Keenan holds all the charm and heart of the original Dickens tale, except this time with a tad more profanity, and booze.”
MD Theatre Guide Review
“Director Mark A. Rhea and Assistant Director Sheri S. Herren run a tight ship and do a superb job with the production. Their direction utilizes silence as an action, and they fill the empty spaces with mystery, which at times leaves the audience breathless. “
