In Keegan’s intimate Church Street home, stories unfold up close, artists and audiences share the same air, and conversations spill into the lobby and out onto the block. The Keegan Theatre is a 501(c)(3) organization of national repute whose primary purpose is to produce high quality professional theatrical productions in Washington, DC, with secondary initiatives aimed at increasing arts access for youth, playwrights, and audiences.
Founded in 1996, Keegan purchased its Church Street home, in the vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood, in 2013 and undertook a $4.4M renovation in 2015. Our $1.5M income is funded primarily through ticket sales, individual contributions, and foundational grants, with the majority of our budget devoted to mounting professional productions in DC.
