Swiftly Sondheim

A One-Night-Only Cabaret
February 19, 2024
Featuring
Sarah Chapin
Pianist
Josh Cleveland

Join lifelong Taylor Swift and Stephen Sondheim fan Sarah Chapin (Keegan’s Merrily We Roll Along) for an evening celebrating these lyrical geniuses, and the top artists on her Spotify Wrapped for as long as she can remember.

Sondheim and Swift come from different musical worlds, but are both storytellers whose mastery of lyrics have made them highly respected in their separate styles. The titan of the American Musical Theatre, Sondheim penned such seminal hits as “Send in the Clowns,” “Worst Pies in London,” and “Being Alive” in his 20 musicals, while pop icon Taylor Swift continues to showcase her ability to shapeshift from era to era in her 10 albums. Still, despite their genre-shaping work, what do “Love Story” and “Tonight” from West Side Story have in common? How do the sentiments Swift penned as a teenager pair with Sondheim’s innovative musical storytelling?

Music director and pianist Josh Cleveland (Keegan’s Elegies) and special guests join Sarah to take you on a tour through Sondheim’s and Swift’s hits. Break out those Eras Tour outfits and your Sondheim swag (we all did Into the Woods in high school right?) and join us at Keegan for this one-night-only cabaret!
