So much about this ongoing crisis is yet unknown, and how events will unfold in the coming weeks and months is unclear, but we do know there will be an end to this stressful situation. When that end arrives, we know that the arts will help restore our sense of community, and we want to be ready to help in the best way we know how: telling great stories and connecting human beings to each other and the community at large.
In that spirit, we’re launching Return to Good Company, a Keegan campaign focused on using this dark time to prepare to launch into the brighter times ahead of us. Keegan staff, development, and company members have been remotely collaborating daily, and we’re eager to share our plans with you:
- MEMPHIS now moved to next season! We’re so pleased to have the flexibility to shift this into the March/April slot of our 2020-2021 season, ensuring that this highly anticipated DC premiere can be enjoyed by as any patrons as possible.
- Dipika Guha’s comedy YOGA PLAY has been canceled from this year’s mainstage season, but will be performed as a staged reading after the theatre reopens.
- HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH now planned as Keegan’s summer opener! Our team has been remotely putting in some terrific work on HEDWIG already, and we can’t wait to reopen our doors with our production of this award-winning fan favorite musical. We have not set our exact performance dates at this point. We want to be flexible to evolving distancing guidelines and be ready to open the show as soon as we’re cleared to invite audiences in. Stay tuned for the announcement of dates and the opening of ticket sales in the coming weeks! LEARN MORE ABOUT THE MUSICAL
In addition to these programming announcements, we’re also taking advantage of the dark time to plan upgrades in the theatre and our classrooms and offices, preparing to tackle some exciting projects that will benefit our audiences, students, and artists.
