Keegan Presents OUTSIDE MULLINGAR

The Keegan Theatre presents John Patrick Shanley’s OUTSIDE MULLINGAR, opening on May 6, 2017, in Washington, DC. The production is directed by Keegan Producing Artistic Director Mark A. Rhea and runs through May 28, 2017.

“OUTSIDE MULLINGAR is quintessential Keegan,” says Rhea. “It covers subtle, gorgeous terrain within the human heart – and so sharply represents the rural communities and relationships of Ireland. The language is simple and deeply poetic at the same time, and the heartache, joy, and humor that Shanley captures in this intimate story is an incredible accomplishment. We can’t wait to share it with our audiences.”

Broadway World: PARADE

Co-directed with precision by Christina A. Coakley and Susan Marie Rhea, Keegan’s PARADE keeps the staging simple and imaginative, cutting away clutter and using only the barest of props and scenic elements to help the story unfold. Keegan Theatre’s production deserves to be seen and heard – just like the story of Mary Phagan and Leo Frank deserves to live on, more than 100 years after the original incidents.

DC Metro Theatre Arts: PARADE

An intriguing musical piece of consequential historical value, Keegan Theatre’s production of the Award-winning musical PARADE is unapologetically dark and honest. Based on actual events, the musical follows the struggles of Leo Frank (played by Michael Innocenti), a Jewish factory superintendent who was convicted of a crime he did not commit, and his relationship with his wife Lucille Frank (played by Eleanor J. Todd). Directed by Christina A. Coakley and Susan Marie Rhea for Keegan Theatre’s 20th anniversary season, The Keegan Theatre’s riveting Parade is a production that should not be missed.

What We’re Up Against Kicks Off Keegan’s 20th Anniversary Season

September 2, 2016: The Keegan Theatre opens its 20th season with the regional premiere of Theresa Rebeck’s What We’re Up Against, a scathing, ferocious comedy about sexism in the workplace. Set in a highly competitive architecture firm, What We’re Up Against takes an explosive look at the complicated battle of the sexes and one woman’s response when she tires of slamming into the glass ceiling.

Keegan Presents Wendy Wasserstein’s An American Daughter: Opening May 7

AMERICAN DAUGHTER was chosen because Keegan’s artistic leadership felt that the timing was right for its themes: feminism in politics and the media. “AMERICAN DAUGHTER feels like the right show to produce at this moment in our nation’s history,” says Mark A. Rhea, the company’s founder and Artistic Director. “The show kept calling to us, and the fact that 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of Wendy Wasserstein’s death also resonated heavily. We’re thrilled to produce a play about women, politics and the media, in our Nation’s capital, during an election season. AMERICAN DAUGHTER, while set in the 90s and about a Surgeon General nominee, couldn’t feel more relevant to us than it does right now.”

Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT Opens March 12
