It’s nice to see the company return to its Irish roots once again.
It’s nice to see the company return to its Irish roots once again.
You’ll laugh and then continue to laugh for so long that you’ll forget that you have no earthly idea what a “blaguard” is…
If you’re the type that likes Irish fun and Irish tunes, and if you’re in search of a simple, uncomplicated evening of entertainment, you’ll want to head for the Church Street Theater to visit a green and (sometimes) pleasant land that the Irish Tourist Board once labeled “The Ancient Birthplace of Good Times.”
The Keegan Theatre is kicking off their new season with A Couple of Blaguards, a two-man show and the theatrical autobiography of Frank and Malachy McCourt.
A Couple of Blaguards is a heartwarming tale that will ring a church bell for every member of the audience. Together this team of actors gives you one hell of a night on the stage.
Long before Frank McCourt was a Pulitzer Prize-winning author — and after his destitute Irish upbringing, which was later immortalized in “Angela’s Ashes” — he was a teacher at Stuyvesant High School on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
Keegan’s 16th season opens on September 21 with A Couple of Blaguards, featuring actors Robert Leembruggen and Keegan company member Timothy Lynch.

Keegan has produced a gripping and delicate portrayal of a family on the brink. Three and a half hours dripping in the weighty heat of conflict and resolution has never felt more refreshing.
…the Keegan Theatre has the director and The Acting Company to serve the play and demonstrate what a masterpiece AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY really is.
